Which extruder is cheaper — single screw or twin screw?
A single screw extruder is generally cheaper than a twin screw extruder in terms of initial investment. Its simpler design, fewer components, and easier maintenance make it a more cost-effective option for many extrusion applications.
A twin screw extruder usually has a higher purchase price because it has two screws, a more complex drive system, and a more advanced processing design.
